Volkswagen, Audi, And Porsche Adopt Tesla EV Plug As NACS Becomes Gold Standard
·1 min
The Volkswagen Group has announced that its brands, VW, Audi, and Porsche, will be integrating Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) plug into electric vehicles beginning in 2025. This move signifies another major automaker adopting NACS as the de facto EV plug in North America. VW’s shift from the Combined Charging System (CCS) to NACS comes as expected, as most other automakers have already made the transition to Tesla plugs, which grant access to the extensive Tesla Supercharger network. This change will provide VW’s electric vehicle customers in North America with access to thousands of additional charging points. The migration from CCS to NACS is happening rapidly, with many other automakers announcing their adoption of NACS. SAE International has also declared NACS as the new industry standard. The recent endorsement of NACS from the White House further supports the widespread adoption of this Tesla plug.
