A federal judge has allowed a lawsuit to proceed against social media company X, formerly known as Twitter. In the lawsuit, workers claim that the company promised but failed to pay millions of dollars in bonuses. The lawsuit was filed by a former senior director of compensation for Twitter who alleges breach of contract. The employees were promised 50% of their targeted bonuses for 2022 if they stayed with the company in Q1 2023, but the bonuses were never paid. The case involves nearly 2,000 current and former workers and the disputed amount exceeds $5 million. The judge ruled that the breach of contract claim was plausible under California law. The company had argued that the bonus plan was discretionary and not an enforceable contract.
