Netflix is bringing its hit show “Squid Game” to life on a soundstage. The live experience, scheduled to open on Wednesday, will allow fans to participate in games similar to those seen in the dystopian series. For $30, participants can compete in various games and experience moral dilemmas for about 70 minutes. The live attraction will feature iconic elements from the show, such as a giant piggy bank, a giant animatronic doll, and the sterile white dormitory. Fans can also purchase a tracksuit for $50 to enhance the immersive experience. The VIP ticket option allows spectators to watch the games while enjoying cocktails in a lounge. Netflix plans to expand the live experience to other cities but has not confirmed additional locations yet. In addition to the live attraction, Netflix has other “Squid Game” adaptations in the works. These include an unscripted English-language competition show called “Squid Game: The Challenge,” a video game, and collaborations with Burger King in Brazil. However, the brand extensions are raising concerns about the excessive expansion of intellectual property and franchise-building in the entertainment industry. Despite the criticism, Netflix aims to capitalize on the immense popularity and success of “Squid Game” by offering fans various ways to engage with the show while they await the release of the second season.
